DAY

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, 'Let there be light.' God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light....DAY."
Genesis 1: 1-5

DAY is the very essence of what it means to overcome. He has never given up on his dreams in spite of those who doubted him as an artist. In 2008, golf-ball sized tumors throughout his neck and chest attempted to claim his life. Oncologists diagnosed him with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He spent the next 2 years undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer-preventing treatments. During that time, he was also hospitalized as he battled pneumonia. Even this couldn’t stop DAY from pursuing his passion. It provided more reason to conquer the disease and go after his dream without ceasing. What didn’t kill him definitely made him stronger.

DAY’s music is, and will be, an inspiration to many nations. In a world where people have lost sight of hope, dreams, and the strength to move forward, DAY inspires you to "seek first the Kingdom of God", press through uncontrollable hardships, and continue in hoping for a better future. His music uplifts, edifies, and imparts to all who would listen. It literally belongs in a category of its own. Through his lyrics, life is breathed. It doesn’t matter who you are, DAY’s music attracts the very heart. His music changes lives and touches you on the inside causing you to understand that your life has great significance and purpose.

A plethora of aching hearts has left the world with a longing for brighter days. While many messages shout, “No you can’t,” DAY declares, “If you can see the invisible (which are your goals and visions), then you can achieve the impossible!"

More about Day...

Born November 26, 1978 in Danbury, CT to Peter Farrell and Arleen Franzese, David James Farrell, better known as DAY a.k.a. “The Untouchable”, is one of the most refreshing rap artists to emerge with an original sound and a profound message that keeps his audience captivated. It doesn’t matter who you are, DAY’s music not only attracts the hearts of those who have lost sight of their hopes and dreams but also provides confirmation to those needing strength to move forward. It changes lives, touches you on the inside, and reveals to you that your very life was created with a purpose. His music uplifts, edifies, and imparts to all who would listen. It literally belongs in a category of its own. Each song is meticulously constructed to a masterpiece. Through his lyrics, life is breathed. His journey, from its inception, is one of perseverance, humility, and interminability. More than anything else, it is one to be commended.

Although DAY attended Sunday School as a child, it was his mother’s guidance that encouraged his faith. Being the third of four children, DAY early discerned his uniqueness by recognizing the call of God to ministry on his life. At age eleven, he began preaching and teaching the Word of God at his local church in Danbury. But DAY’s life then took an unforeseen turn at age twelve. Not only did his parents divorce, but his grandfather—the closest person to him at the time—suddenly passed away. From then, DAY’s life became a downward spiral, with upward seeming highly improbable. These events took a toll on him, and a deep depression remained with him throughout his early teenage years. From getting harassed by classmates to achieving low marks in school, DAY finally decided enough was enough! He began his course toward a brighter future. At age seventeen, he graduated at the top of his class and received a scholarship. He was granted admission into Northeastern University, and he relocated to Boston, MA soon after.  Acknowledging his exceptional gift with music, both writing and producing, DAY returned to Connecticut, invested in his own production equipment, and immediately began working on his very first demo.

At age twenty-one, DAY, again, hit rock bottom after ending a long-term relationship with his first love. Falling into yet another stage of depression, he was heavily impacted by drug use.  Nevertheless, he bounced back and once again realized he was created for a purpose. In 2001, DAY packed whatever belongings could fit in his car and set sail on a cross-country journey to meet his destiny. He was led not only to the other side of the nation but to the Entertainment Capital of the World—Los Angeles, CA—where he would meet a new spiritual family, be born again, and begin his perpetual journey of living for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Following his heart and pursuing his dream to become a musical artist, DAY soon found out what it meant to really sacrifice. For several months after relocating to Los Angeles, DAY’s only shelter was the roof of his vehicle. It was there that he cried out to God and became filled with the Holy Spirit. Even though his car, clothes, and all of his possessions had been stolen from under him, it did not stop him from continuing to attend prayer meetings and seeking an even closer relationship with God.

Later that year, at twenty-two years of age, DAY, was led to Full Harvest International Church (FHIC) and was imparted to under the ministry of Bishop Clarence E. McClendon. His many involvements with the ministry over the next seven years included singing in FHIC’s choir, completing Evangelistic Alliance Classes with high honors, becoming an Associate Minister under Clarence E. McClendon Ministries, leading Daniel’s Posse (the Young Men’s Ministry), and landing a lead role in the ministry’s short film production titled The Force of Hope

DAY neither forgot about nor gave up on his musical aspirations.  In 2005, he recorded a second demo with Ru Samath from The Bird Call Productions while performing several shows at numerous venues throughout the greater Los Angeles area. He would continue to do so for the next two years. DAY’s demo with Samath nabbed the attention of Roman Velasquez, and he was soon put to work recording a third demo through Velasquez’s Def Jive Digital Records

Exalted to a higher calling and never suppressing the hunger to minister through music, DAY, for a second time, headed back to his hometown of Danbury, CT to begin working on a new project in March 2008 with Vidal Goring of Couffe Music and Under My Feet Productions (U.M.F.). However, life yet again delivered devastating news. A CAT Scan revealed golf-ball sized tumors throughout his neck and chest, and his very life was committed into the care of a team of oncologists. He was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and would spend the next 2 years undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer-preventing treatments to rid his body of the deadly infiltration. As if this wasn’t enough, in the midst of undergoing chemotherapy and already having an extremely weakened immune system, DAY also endured a ten-day hospital stay as he battled pneumonia—which ultimately attempted to claim his life. Nevertheless, even this couldn’t stop DAY from pursuing his God-given purpose in music. It provided more reason to conquer the disease and go after his dream without ceasing. What didn’t kill him definitely made him stronger. Never losing sight of the fact that the Great Physician is his faithful Healer, DAY began recording his current project titled Psalms of David in spite of what the circumstances may have dictated. U Made Me Better, written immediately following the ill-fated diagnosis, is a praise declaration and testimony to God thanking Him in advance for what DAY already knew would come to pass—total restoration of his body, mind, and soul.

Completely healed and delivered from Lymphoma, DAY is the very essence of what it means to overcome. His music encourages you to seek first the Kingdom of God, press through interminable hardships, and continue in faith hoping for the manifestation of your dreams. It is also ministerial in that it not only serves as an unadulterated proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ but also confesses testimonies of his walk in the faith. His continual faithfulness to minister the gospel—while being ever so mindful that his sole purpose is to glorify Him—is catapulting DAY to an elevated caliber, as God continues to “make all grace abound toward” him by doing “exceedingly abundantly above all he could ever ask or think” by opening doors many will only dream of. His powerful lyrics have been deemed “the bridge between secular and gospel music” and are sure to leave you inspired, edified, and enlightened by the word of God. He was blessed with the honor of taking part in McDonald’s Gospel Fest 2010 where he shared the stage with the likes of Vickie Winans, J. Moss, Hezekiah Walker, Kurt Carr, Regina Belle, Cissy Houston, Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson, legendaries Dionne Warrick and Roberta Flack, and the one and only Bishop T.D. Jakes!

A plethora of aching hearts has left the world longing for brighter days. While many messages shout, “No you can’t,” DAY declares, “Yes you can!” Therefore, if you can perceive the invisible then you can achieve the impossible!” Be on the lookout for the highly-anticipated full-length album Psalms of David featuring the hard-hitting, yet soul-captivating tracks Maybe Someday, Bring ‘Em Out, U Made Me Better, Don’t U Forget About Me, and Born Again. So be encouraged in the faith, and be strong in the Lord. But above all, be blessed!
